The 5 Most Important Email Newsletter Best Practices

Anyone can make a newsletter. How do you make sure the people who sign up for yours stick around? Keeping some of the email newsletter best practices in mind will help you get started. I’m here to help with that! These days, newsletters are fairly easy to set up; it’s part of the glory of modern technology. But you’ll be competing with a lot of other newsletters, and your audience members only have so much time in a day to be engaging with content. E-newsletters are common these days. Almost every business, website, or blog has one you can sign up for. Very few people do email newsletters right, and that’s understandable! These newsletters are a tough nut to crack. It often takes people years of experience to learn the dos and don’ts. I’m going to help you get past those initial stumbling blocks. Your newsletter might still take a while to get on its feet, and that’s fine. But if you keep these top email newsletter best practices at the forefront of your newsletter crafting, you’ll be a step ahead of those who got lost finding the starting line. It’s important to note that crafting newsletters is a key component of The CLICK Technique: K – Keep Going. Once you have your audience’s e-mail, it’s time to keep them warm by reaching out to them at least once a week. The best way to do that is (you guessed it!) with a newsletter. All that said, today I’ve got some tips for newsletter creation, including consistency, focusing on a purpose, incorporating visual elements, content delivery, and getting permission from your audience. It’s a good chunk of info to cover, so let’s get started on the top five email newsletter best practices. The First of the Email Newsletter Best Practices: Have a Purpose Your newsletter needs to have a clear purpose. Why should your intended audience sign up for it? What will they get out of it? Like any part of your business or website, your newsletter needs to be filled with worthwhile content. Go back to the heart of your brand, and build your purpose from there. Make sure that each newsletter is centered around that purpose. Of course, you’ll be building on your brand image and hooking back to your website, but that’s just the start. You need a reason to be emailing them. You wouldn’t send an unsolicited email to a friend unless you had a reason, right? Think of your readers as your friends. You might want to check in and see how their day is going. You might want them to know what’s new with you. You might want to tell them an exciting story about something that happened to you. Connect with your readership like you would a friend! One of the top email newsletter best practices is to keep the purpose for your emails at the head of the proverbial ship. This isn’t easy, I know. If you’re keeping consistent with your newsletter, it can be challenging to come up with informative, interesting, and purposeful content for every single newsletter. You’re a busy person! I assure you, however, that this is time well-spent. Newsletters are a crucial part of community engagement, and can net you a lot of traffic to your site....

Web Strategy Expert Lindsey Anderson on Business Innovators Radio

In this show of influential entrepreneurs, I was hosted by Mike Sanders. The show is well known for sharing tips and strategies that are sure to elevate your business the next level. I as a web strategy expert tried to share some of my experience. I’m popularly known as One-Click Lindsey. Most people prefer to call me One-Click Lindsey rather than Lindsey Anderson. I got comfortable with the name and stuck with it. It became much easier for people to remember that name. The reason behind the name is tied to what we do at trafficandleads.com. We do a lot of funnel marketing. This majorly involves driving traffic to major websites. Later on, we grab people’s emails and try to convert such emails into actual clients for our customers. I can relate to a chiropractor who requested for my services, but it somehow took too long to get actual leads. But someday overnight, about 20 leads came by. I got to convince him that if we could get people to just to make one click on an ad or on a landing page, we would be making progress. I continued telling him about this “one-clicks” as often as I could and then one day we got successful and he uttered, “Well well, well, if it isn’t One-Click Lindsey!” When you go to my website, I as a web strategy expert put some examples of frameworks that people could use in their online marketing endeavors. But a fair word of advice, be consistent. Get going. Give your leads some irresistible offers on your websites. Even with your email lists, make sure that you have something catchy to give so that the people remain on your list. Then, get people to opt in. Ensure that your website tracks the people who visit it. To listen to more insight into my story, as I share with Mike Sanders, listen in to this podcast. Importance of Website Popups: How to Change ‘Annoying’ Website Features into Likable Ones

We all know about the importance of website popups, multimedia engagement, and contact avenues on your website. These things are staples of the medium. A lot of them also tend to be complained about to no end. Go ahead and Google “website popups” and you’ll see pages and pages of strategies for visitors to avoid or disable them. There are even sites dedicated to warning others to stay away from particularly “annoying” websites. Yikes. First impressions are the strongest, aren’t they? This idiom is even more prominent on the internet. According to a Canadian study on online first impressions, visitors form an opinion in 500 milliseconds. Some of us are lucky if our websites even load a page within that time! (Oh yeah–visitors will remember that, too!) What can we really do to keep our websites from annoying visitors? We can’t just throw things like contact forms and popups out the window, not with the importance of website popups being so high. (Seriously, I can’t stress the importance of website popups enough.) So, what do we do? How do we keep these crucial website components without driving traffic away? This article covers L for Land in The CLICK Technique. Once we draw people in with Curiosity, we want to make sure they Land on a great website. Today, I’m going to share with you some of the biggest complaints coming from visitors to sites. No worries: I’ll also be introducing you to a few tips and tricks you can use to fix those “annoying” issues promptly. We’ll even talk about why a lot of these “annoying” things are so critical, like the importance of website popups. Let’s get started! Poor Navigation First things first: simple navigation is critical to the survival of your website. This complaint has been around since the inception of the internet and isn’t likely to go anywhere soon. Poor navigation has been the bane of many website creators (and visitors). Poorly laid out sites are frustrating, unappealing, and can make you feel just a little bit crazy. When people land on your site and start hunting through it, looking for a specific area or piece of info, make sure they aren’t left hanging. Visitors don’t want the slightest hint of confusion. Don’t be clever when titling your subsections: call a spade a spade, and title them what they are. “Contact Us”, not “Reach Out and Talk to Us”. “Home” not “Where the Heart Is”. Leave the clever puns for your website copy! Like me! (Seriously, have I told you all about the importance of website popups yet? No?) A “busy” site will also cause navigation issues. This is due to distraction: if you have too much going on, visitors will get lost in all the activity. Simplicity is always the best way to go. Good website navigation includes being mobile-friendly. A great deal of the populace now wanders the web on their phone. Nothing will drive a mobile user away as quickly as a difficult to navigate the site. Make sure to check your site with your own mobile device and see if it’s difficult to digitally traverse. Keep in mind that navigation trends are ever-changing. You’ll also grow better at spotting poor website layouts as you get more experienced. You’ll need to readdress your...

How to Market Your Online Business by Making the Most of Your Webinar

How to Market Your Online Business by Making the Most of Your Webinar

You want to know how to market your online business, and you want to know how you can use webinars to do it. Good news–you’ve come to the right place! Webinars are a medium that’s overlooked far too frequently. These things have a ton of uses, and can be a key part in your marketing process. They build trust, which alone makes them a worthy product, as well as a direct method of getting leads for your business. Most importantly, webinars make your audience curious. Curiosity is a bit like a yawn that just won’t stop coming back. Curiosity causes people to keep looking in and checking up on your business. People who’ve caught that bug won’t sit still: they’ll be regularly checking for updates from your business. Curiosity is a huge part of how to market your online business, and cultivating it is key. That’s why it’s the first C of The CLICK Technique. We’ll take a look at what webinars are, why people enjoy (and sometimes prefer) webinars, and how to market your online business while producing the best online seminar you can. What is a Webinar? Most of you are rolling your eyes at this point. “We know what a webinar is.” Hold the phone! You’d be surprised by how many people don’t! Simply put, a webinar is a seminar that’s hosted online. The title caught on in the early days of the web, but many people in business are still intimidated by it. Some of us are still a bit behind the times when it comes to this tech even though it’s the perfect opportunity for you to create curiosity around your business. Don’t be tempted to duck out if you’re confused by the concept of webinars! These online seminars are a fantastic resource that can teach you how to market your online business to a new crowd. I appeared as a guest on Social Media Business Hour where I talked about basics of Online Marketing Strategy, you might want to check it out. There are a lot of perks to webinars that seminars just don’t have. For example: your seminar, workshop, presentation, or lesson can be far more personal and easier to engage with on the web. Webinars are convenient, as participants don’t need to leave home to attend them. Seminars put the speaker up on a platform or in the lime-light, where webinars put everyone on the same level. This intimate detail makes webinars much more personal and attractive. A good webinar feels more like one-on-one coaching! Before taking off and hosting your own webinars, you’ll need to learn how to market your online business with them. Don’t worry–my team and I have got your back! We’ll go over tricks I’ve learned through the years that you can use. We’ll also reference Jessica Nazarali, a successful evergreen webinar host, who I recently had a fantastic interview with. Pay Attention to Details A big part of learning how to market your online business is learning how to harness small details. There are a lot of little details that you need to consider in the planning stages of your online seminar. Ignore them, and you risk losing out on a ton of potential audience members and leads. Incorporate multiple forms of media in your presentation, just...
